Ingredients

  • 2 cups dry red lentils
  • 1 medium white onion
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • ½ tablespoon chickpea flour
  • 2 tablespoons Italian seasoning
  • Olive oil for frying

Instructions

  1. Rinse and soak the lentils overnight. Drain and place them in a food processor.
  2. Add diced onion, minced garlic, tomato paste, chickpea flour, Italian seasoning, sea salt, and pepper. Pulse until well combined but slightly chunky.
  3. Shape the mixture into patties about 2 inches wide.
  4. Heat olive oil in a frying pan over medium heat and fry patties for about 4–5 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Serve warm with lemon tahini dip made by mixing tahini, lemon juice, minced garlic, sea salt, and enough water to achieve desired consistency.
