  • 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 stick unsalted butter, at room temperature
  • 1 tablespoon heavy cream
  • 4 tablespoons Kahlua, or other coffee liqueur
  • 1 teaspoon instant espresso powder
  • 3 cups powdered sugar, sifted
  • Ground cinnamon, for dusting

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter and chocolate together in a saucepan over low heat; let cool slightly.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together flour, espresso powder, and salt.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine melted chocolate mixture and sugar; mix well before adding eggs one at a time.
  5. Stir in vanilla extract.
  6. Fold dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
  7. Pour into a baking pan and bake for 20 minutes.
  8. For the Kahlua buttercream, beat room temperature butter with cream, Kahlua, espresso powder, and powdered sugar until creamy.
  9. Once brownies cool, cut into bites and top with buttercream.
