- 16 oz dried ziti pasta
- 1 lb ground Italian sausage
- 32 oz marinara sauce
- 3 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup Pecorino Romano cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes
- minced fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and butter a 9×13-inch baking dish.
- Cook ziti in salted water until al dente, then drain.
- In a skillet, brown the sausage over medium-high heat; drain excess fat.
- Add minced garlic, marinara sauce, and red pepper flakes to the skillet; simmer for 10 minutes.
- Combine cooked pasta with the sausage mixture until coated.
- Layer half of the pasta in the baking dish, sprinkle half of both cheeses on top, add remaining pasta, and finish with remaining cheeses.
- Bake uncovered for 20 minutes until cheese is bubbly. Let rest before serving.
