Ingredients

  • 1/2 pound chicken breast, cut into small pieces
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 teaspoons rice vinegar
  • 10 tablespoons cornstarch or potato starch
  • 2 eggs
  • Oil for frying
  • 2 tablespoons Gochujang (Korean chili paste)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine chicken pieces with ginger, salt, pepper, and rice vinegar. Marinate for 10–15 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a frying pan over medium heat.
  3. Beat eggs in a separate bowl, then dip each marinated chicken piece into the egg, followed by coating them in cornstarch or potato starch.
  4. Fry the coated chicken in batches until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
  5. For the sauce, mix Gochujang, honey, brown sugar, soy sauce, and sesame oil in a pan over low heat until thickened.
  6. Toss fried chicken in the sauce until well-coated.
  7. Serve hot, garnished with toasted sesame seeds.
