  • 1 (15-ounce) can diced tomatoes (do not drain)
  • 1 (15-ounce) can tomato sauce
  • 3 ounces tomato paste (about ¼ cup)
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 12 cups water (or more as needed to adjust consistency)
  • 1 tablespoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (or more to taste)
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 8 ounces bowtie pasta (uncooked)
  • ½ cup ricotta cheese
  • 2 ounces mozzarella cheese, shredded (about ½ cup)
  • ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, shaved, shredded, or grated
  • ¼ cup fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium-high heat. Add ground beef, diced onion, and minced garlic; cook until the beef is browned.
  2. Stir in diced tomatoes (with juice), tomato sauce, tomato paste, chicken broth, Italian seasoning, salt, pepper, and uncooked pasta.
  3. Bring to a boil over high heat.
  4. Reduce heat to medium and let simmer for 10-15 minutes until pasta is tender.
  5. Adjust consistency with additional water or broth if needed.
  6. Serve hot with toppings of ricotta, mozzarella, Parmesan cheese, and fresh parsley.
