  • 3 cans (8 oz each) tomato sauce
  • 4 cups beef or chicken broth
  • 1 can (15 oz) kidney beans, drained
  • 1 can (15 oz) Great Northern or cannellini beans, drained
  • 1 cup ditalini pasta

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat until shimmering.
  2. Add ground beef (or beef and sausage) until browned; break apart as it cooks.
  3. Stir in onion, celery, and carrots; cook for about 5 minutes before adding garlic.
  4. Mix in dried basil, Italian seasoning, brown sugar, and red pepper flakes.
  5. Add diced tomatoes with juice, tomato sauce, and broth; bring to a boil.
  6. Stir in kidney beans and Great Northern beans; boil for about 5 minutes.
  7. Add ditalini pasta; cook according to package instructions until al dente.
  8. If needed, adjust thickness with additional water before serving.
