- 3/4 cup sourdough discard
- 3/4 cup water
- 3 tablespoons honey
- 6 tablespoons butter (melted)
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 3 tablespoons butter (melted) for filling
- 1/2 cup brown sugar for filling
- 1 tablespoon cinnamon for filling
- 1 cup powdered sugar for frosting
- 4 oz cream cheese (preferably full fat) for frosting
- 2 tablespoons butter for frosting
- 2 tablespoons cream (milk or half and half) for frosting
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a small bowl, combine melted butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon for the filling; set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- Stir in honey, melted butter, water, and sourdough discard until combined into a soft dough.
- Knead for about five minutes until smooth.
- Roll out the dough into an even rectangle (1/4 to 1/2 inch thick).
- Spread the cinnamon filling evenly over the dough.
- Roll tightly from one long side and slice into 12 equal pieces.
